  2. I would definately consider a program that can do pan/zoom (i.e. the Ken Burn's effect used on his PBS documentaries). It's just amazing what this does to bring pictures to life!

Memoriesontv is a new release (www.memoriesontv.com, and the trial download just blew me away! I've made sample VCD's and SVCD's from the program. It can also create DVD's, but that 's probably a waste of media unless you have a ton of pictures to put on one disk - just make sure your DVD player is SVCD capable.

It's pretty simple to use. I burned my disks directly from the program (integrates with Nero I believe).

If you're just looking for simple slideshows without the pan/zoom feature, I think there are a ton of options out there. This includes both dedicated programs as well as modules in Nero 6, Roxio EasyCd Creator 6, etc.

I use windows movie maker. It's free w/ an update and is very easy to use. I think after you get done with the file, it ends up in mpg format ready to be burned. Good luck.

Ulead's PictureShow2 also works quite well. No maximum and the number of slides per chapter (as in MyDVD), no max on music, ability to overwrite text to the displayed picture, and narration ability for each slide.
