  1. I loaded my large file ok. I went to the edit screen. I make all the chapters, and they show on the right side, and when I click ok, it takes me back to the window before edit clips, and there is only one clip showing there.... if I goto the next step there is only one clip there..

    what is going on?

    Welcome to DVDR Help FIC
Start > add your one big clip
Source Setup >(Your one big clip) Edit > Create chapters > OK and you are back to Source Setup
Create menu (The next Step) > Display menu settings > Bullet the Main menu and Track menu button >OK
Browse through the dropdown arrow at the upper left window. Try some different menus to see what is available
In the same Drop Down Arrow window, click the New Theme . . . text at the bottom of the drop down window.
Explore the options in all the drop down windows.
Save the theme you work on. Open that theme when you start another project.

  3. Thanks for the info but you're missing the point... when I create chapters it is still only showing as one file, and on the menu page I want to be able to select one of the 14 tracks on the DVD or play all and it just plays right though. So basically I can play the whole show and fast forward through the songs, or I can select which tracks I wanna watch..

its still only letting me select one track to start from, not anyone I want

To display all the tracks on one page you have to select a track layout with the number of images you want to select so if you want 10 chapters on the menu then select track menu layout 10 from either the edit or choices for your menu. You can have all the chapters on the start menu or the next page or pages in whatever groups of images you want.

  6. no but the problem is when I take the one big file and cut them up into lets say 10 chapters, when I click ok it takes me back to the screen with the track to the left and the main file in the middle, and its only one screen. When I goto next menu, no matter how many I select it still only shows up once..

Basically here is what I ultimately wanna do.

Take one concert which is 1hr:15 mins, the chapters are all messed up.

I wanna make a DVD that I can either play all, or I can select songs, and scroll through and select what song I wanna watch.. thats all

    @ FIC,

I think that what everyone is saying here, is that you have to create what
is called "entry points" or Chapters.

Ok, if your source is one big file, then don't split them up into pieces. Instead,
create Chapters (I call them Chapter Points, but I'm a newbie at this too)
    within the single file.

From what I just learned, Chapters are "I" frame sensitive. I have thread
asking questions on Chapters, and this is what I vaigly undestood, though
a bit dissapointing to me, because that seems to be a lot of work, figuring
out "I" frames and where they are and the TIMEs w/in the .mpg source.
It's all too confusing to me, but I have to learn this stuff if I wanna proceed
    to the next level

I'm guessing here, but if you split your main .mpg file into small pieces, then
you will or may have slight pause problems while it steps to the next clip.
    I've had this issue w/ my xSVCD's.

  9. I know how to create chapters. I open the one big mpg file, and I select the begining of the chapter and the end.. then I click ok or add, it puts that onto the right side panel, and I goto the next point etc.. so I have lets say 10 chapters showing in the right panel. When I hit ok, it takes me back to the main screen but I only have one file there showing the last clip size, so 5 min 31sec..

    Fic,

I'm not all that familiar w/ chapter points, but I'm also not sure if you do
understand (or I understand you) but when you create the chapter points,
you are not spliting the main .mpg file. You are in effect, inserting
code that sayd, "at this point in TIME, we want to be able to jump in this
spot" (should the user click on their skip/chapter buttons

  11. I realize that but when I goto create a menu for song selections Id like to be able to choose what songs, therefore in the menu screen it must show or say the different song tracks to choose from and it isnt. I need the chapters to show up separate

I think (!!!) that if you click on the main file you see, then the chapter points will be displayed on their own page. Kind of like the structure of subdirectories of a main file in Explorer.
