  1. I've downloaded a movie which used telecine. After reading a little here and there, I understand fully what telecine is. My problems are as follows:

    1) I can't get it to play. I've tried avi2c to change the fourcc code, used all of the variations, and still can't get it to play.

    2) Once I get it to play, is there a special way to encode/decode this video into a burnable vcd movie?

    Thanks a bunch.
Software used (until you guys/gals enlighten me):
    DVD Decrypter
    DVD Shrink
    CopyToDVD
    Nero 6
    VCDEasy
    TMPGEnc

If you understand fully, tell us what Telecine has to do with
    your problem

  3. ok, rephrase, i understand what telecine is, in regards to capturing a movie directly from the projector. what i don't understand is what is different about it that makes it not play in any software i use (media player, divx player, etc), and how to encode/decode it into a vcd.

    point well taken.

You need to find out how it was encoded. What is the file extension.
    Gspot or Avicodec may help.
Isn't there a clue on the perfectly legal website where you got it ?

  5. The guy probably means "telesync". It's likely a divx bootleg movie shot using a camcorder and mics at the corners positioned right at the speakers, and synch'ed up with the video in the editing process.

  6. the file extension is .avi. i've taken a screen shot, saved it as a .gif 33kb, and attached it to the reply. take a look if you will.

also, the file description says telecine, not telesynch.

If you want it , you need to work harder.

  8. foo, i always try to be polite, but is there a reason that you seem to be posting in an argumentative way, almost like you're flaunting your knowledge around, instead of using it to help people?

remember, forums only work when you have veteran community members that are willing to, and haven't lost the desire to help.

A telecine is when the footage is recorded directly off of the reels using a telecine machine. I'm trying to think of an instance when you would have access to this kind of footage other than with a bootleg, and I'm having a hard time. I guess I will give you the benefit of the doubt, but if you even think that this source may be illegal than you should not be asking about it here.

With that said, if its labeled telecine its just telling you the original source. It has nothing to do with what codec the footage is stored in now. There are lots of codecs out there, unless you have installed the codec which this file uses, then you are not going to get playback. I would think that wherever you downloaded this file from, it would have told you how it was encoded. You can try using Gspot. It can usually determine the codec that the file uses, and then you can download and install that codec. Get it in the tools section of this site.

Ok the screenshot just came through. This is most definitley a bootleg movie. vcd099 please read the rules before posting in the future.

Gspot told you all you need to know. Its divx 5, just get the codec. If you want any further help from this forum you are going to have to find some legal sources.
