Sony DAV S300....HELP?

Am currently putting films on to DVD-R. The above DVD player must be the fussiest thing Ive ever come accross when it comes to playing DVD-R's. It wont play memorex or datawrite 4X but ive had success with Bulkpaq generation4 DVD-R 4X.
So I recently purchased some Bulkpaq generation4 8X DVD-R thinking the speed wouldn't make any difference but guess what...... they dont play!
My other DVD player seems to play anything at all.
Ive tried cleaning the lense etc, but no difference.
Why is this DVD player being so tempremental??

The Prodiscs I made at 2X and 4X worked in my Sony. Yes the older ones are picky, but the new ones aren't. I took some discs I couldn't get to play in either of my recorders or any of 3 players I had to Sears and tried them in a new Sony and they worked, so I guess they are getting better. I don't guess that helps you much though.
