  1. I want to make backup copies of my PS2 games. I have tried to research the matter, but it's a little confusing. I really don't want to modify the PS2 hardware. So, is there some software that is available that can perform the copy function?

Only modded ps2 can play backups if you dont have a modchip installed (or dont plan on it) dont bother to back-up your games on dvd-+r cause only modded ps2 can play back-ups.

  6. I got mine chipped for £105.

It was more expensive cause i have a version 4 which i believe are a little more tricky that new PS2's.

If you have a version 3 then forget it cause they are to time consuming.

You can tell by the amount of scews that hold the bottom of the PS2 together to which version you have.

    10 for version 3 or 8 for version 4

If you need more help then let me know.

The aternative for getting your ps2 chipped would be to get a flip top lid in conjunction with swap magic discs, , no soldering etc needed, just a change of lid.

Pros: You can fit a flip top lid in about five mins by yourself.
    It's relativly cheap
    It plays my backups perfectly!

Cons: You have to put a boot disc in every time
    It doesnt play rips

  8. there is a new version of swap magic coming out that will have a "TOC refresh" functon that will let you play rips.

it should be out in about a month..

there is also a new fliptop lid coming out, it comes with a button to open your lid & is spring loaded, with a new hinge design..

again, it should be out in about a month..
