  1. what EXACTLY are the rules to use this forum? My question is, after you have created good digital video, that plays correctly in computer and in television and stand-alone DVD players, what comes next?

For instance ... I did create a series of videos, intended to promote awareness for transportation professionals, and to increase highway safety. Is something of this nature allowed to be mentioned in these forums?

I am, personally, just a "stupid" truck driver. But, if I can make all of this stuff work (correctly), anyone can do it. Cameras, are synonymous with "surveillance", and who exactly is drawing the line on what you can and cannot do in 2004? ATMs, convienience stores, and all of the super-stores "surveille" you, and you never notice, becasue no one does anything with that "raw video material". What if someone did, and was?

Back to my original question. Exactly where do you take this video you create? I made such a place, and created such a company. But, I really don't wish to be "banned". I happen to know many creative people out there, are doing similar things to what I am doing, and they are running into the barriers created by the "Media Giants".

I did see all of the stuff floating around re: how to copy stuff (using MS products). As a Linux user, I have never had problem ONE getting into (or copying) any material I wanted to (even if I had to resort to hex-edit). My attitude is, as far as this genre of thing goes, after making your own personal backups, why bother?

I am trying to not be too scattered. As far as I could tell, this was literally the only place that had real help for DVD-R creation. I was helped, at I/O Magic forums, but the issue I had was related to the limits of the hardware (Sony DVD-R's are not recognized by the drive).

Creating an ISO then migrating it to DVD-R was covered in the LinuxGazette back in the DVD+R drive days.

What exactlty are the rules? I did not mention any web sites (of my own). Where is everyone in here taking their material that thery have spent SOOO much computer time creating?

Pandora is my computers name ...

If you own the copyright to the material you are working with, or if the material isn't copyrighted at all, ie: your home videos, then of course you can discuss it here.

As for what you do with it, that's up to you. Personally, I like to take it to the living room and watch it.

Me personally, I have a shelf unit over there on the wall by the home theatre system that holds all my stuff, be it backed up DVDs, stuff I captured off the TV set, old VHS stuff I transferred to DVD, or home movies. It's really quite nice.

  4. I have the highway patrol nationwide involved in DVD video ...

I find this interesting, and disappointing at the same time.

As a driver, I can remember quite clearly the old days (the "old school outlaw trucking days"). The caliber of people attracted to my industry (30k is great?), these new drivers lately, are scaring even me, and the technology exists to crete some safeguards and SOME controls.

My focus is to start it early, and to keep uncle sam from creating a monster (and I do realize that to talk about G.W. is political) ...enough said.

    {smiles}.
