Hi
Ive been trying to do some animated shows at 352*576 as this would be supported by DVD. The audio is at 48kHz. Encoding is done with CCE.
But when i look at the results in PowerDVD(or in WMP) i cant get it to play in fullscreen. The image doesn't fill the monitor horizontel, just vertical. Ive tried both the 4:3 & 16:9 setting in CCE. This would be a resolution approved by dvd so I thought it would play nice in PowerdDVD
As my standalone doesnt supprt any RW media id hate to burn something that doesnt work.

Ok, did a recode-test and now it works. Both as 4:3 and 16:9. I do remember that last time i used interlaced material and this time progressiv, if that would make any difference.

Ok to clearify or at least help someone else who got the same problem:
In CCE i've checked "DVD Compilant" and later i realized (read) that by checking that i will end up with 720*576@25fps or720*480@29,97fps no matter what the size is of the inputfile. -
Ok so now i try to author this thing and tmpgenc dvd author states that you cant use dar16:9 for the resolution 352*576.
Is this really true? -
DVD standard only supports 16:9 if encoded in full D-1 (720x480/576.)
Does it support 16:9 at 704X576? -
Actually, yes it does. Sorry that was a typo. I honestly forgot about that res entirely.
16:9 is supported in 720x480/576 and 704x480/576.
It is not supported in 352x480/576 or 352x240/288. -

To check yours I would suggest the following -- When you author a DVD with unquestionable material, make some place for a probe file. Like 20-50Mb or so. It is always possible to have such a space available.
Then put you your probe file (widescreen, half resilution) in a separate track named - Bonusfor example.

There are countless DVD players which will play certain things not supported in the DVD standard, but if you want your disk to be fully compatible then you have to adhere to the specs. Also, any good dvd authoring software will not permit you to author a DVD at half D-1 with a 16:9 DAR, IMO.

The good software warns and then permits. After all we are not kids.
DVD Movie factory is far from ideal but fortunately permits half resolution, widescreen in the same timeBest wishes,
