  1. Hi all

Ive been trying to backup Jackass the movie and first time i was successfull in backing up but noticed some pixelation so i retried.

I then turned to back the very same DVD and tried to split the movie to two disks
First Disk= extras only with menu and and shrunk the movie to still pictures, all successfull,

Second Disk = movie and menu only with extras to still pictures which i also succeeded but when DVDshrink 3.0 beta 5 finishes encoding it says (see image 1 notice the total size) the below which is too big to fit on one DVD-r even though the screen says (see image 2)

    Image 2

Does anyone have any idea of why the output size becomes larger than shown in image 2?

First of all, undo the extra audio and Subs you do not need. Just leave one English sudio. Then click on RATIO and decrease it so it is about 100MBs small than the target size. I guarantee, you won;t see the difference. It should end up just the right size. Works for me everytime.

    Kas,

It's possible to completely remove the parts you don't want (rather than convert them to still pictures), if you're willing to do a bit more work.
This can save over 300 megs.

  5. You can also open DVD Shrink And go under EDIT<PREFRENCES<CUSTOM and then change the target size to -50 to 100 mb. With only a quick read of the disk Shrink sometime mis calculates the size of the disk and ends up beeing to large. I hoe thishels

  6. Yup, been there, seen that. Used Alans trick of lowering the target size by 100mb and the problems all went away.

btw - which version of the beta are you using?

  7. The size that DVDShrink gives you is an estimate, just as it's an estimate in TMPGENc Plus when encoding from AVI to MPEG2 with VBR. Just count on the size being close to the estimate, but not exactly. I'd say 100MB is a reasonable leeway + or -.

An even better way, would be to run the deep analysis.

This gices a much more accurate size.
