  1. Hi there,

I have the DVD 'Together' (in 16:9 anamorphic widescreen) which I'm playing on my Cyberhome ADL528 through my crummy Alba tv. The subtitle (it's originally in Swedish) appear in the black bar at the bottom, or at least the top line does. The second line of subtitle drops off the bottom of the screen! Has anyone experienced this before and is there anything I can do about it?

    Thanks a lot,

"crummy Alba tv" - maybe it's the TV. Most TV's overscan by 10% or more, depending on the make and model. You should look on normal program and see if all of the screen is there. A good example would be on a channel such as CNN - they have a "news crawl" across the bottom that is cut partially off on a lot of TV's I see, because the Vertical Size is not adjusted properly. If you can verify that it's the TV (try playing the disc on a friend's TV and DVD player to see), then if you feel like it, you could open the TV and find the Vertical Size (not Vertical Linearity) adjustment and possibly be able to get it within the viewable area.

  3. Aaah, ok. I had a feeling the tv might have something to do with it - it's far from flat screened, or even rectangular. Thanks a lot for that though, much appreciated. I'll investigate and see if I can improve the situation.
