Ive been noticing that there are dvdr that are printable and so I looked at the printers on www.meritline.com and they have one as cheap as 189.00. I dint know if anyone has tried this out or not. Or if printing on the dvdr can damage the quality of the movie. Just asking.

The Epson 900 is a much better printer - available for street price of about $169, but Epson supposedly has an instant $50 coupon for ordering from their page (and, there is a $30 rebate offer!).

I seen the 30 dollar rebate but not the 50. Also is the printing affect the quality of the dvd

As for printing affecting the play of the DVD, I print full picture labels, and I haven't had any issues.
Search the forum for the Epson to find out how to access the $50 coupon from the Epson site (in the last two weeks).ICBM target coordinates:

Can anyone remember what the model number was for the Epson CD printer that had the same body/case as the Epson Photo 830, pictured below,
thanks.

Maybe the photo 820?

Did a search and coulndt find a $50 code but i seen the $30 rebate. Also does it come with the label printer cassete?

The CD carrier is just a solid piece of plastic with a depression to place the CD into. I paid $169 for mine and I didn't know about the Epson coupon.

To get the $50 off, type "photo" in the coupon code while checking out at the epson website.

I just purchased the Epson Stylus Photo 900.
Yes, it's neat and does a good job printing directly on the CDs.
However, the image quality isn't that great. Even at the highest quality print settings the image looks somewhat washed out. I'm speculating that this has something to do with the fact that the "printable" top coating of the CD is not as absorbant as photopaper or even CD labels.
For me I'll continue to use my CD labels.
Also, using their Print CD software the image is exactly centered on the CD but you get about a 1/8" inch white circular border around the outer and inner diameter of the image on the CD. With a label you don't have any white borders because their is about an 1/8" inch over spray on both the outer and inner diameters.
Additionally, I believe the rebate offer is $30 but only if you also purchase some Memorex printable CD-Rs.Evil flourishes when good men do nothing. -
My EZ CD printer is around 1 year old now. I don't like it very much. It's too clunky. I can never get it to properly print the 1st CD. No matter what I do, it screws up the first print job. After that, it seems to work fine. One other bother. The program has adjustments if the printing isn't centered properly on the CD. After I've made my adjustments, it seems to lose it the next time I need to run the program. So now I just print the image slightly smaller so I don't have to keep worrying about it being properly centered.

I have a CD printer that looks the same as your picture only in white. It is an Epson C60 (converted by Copytrax)

Vandakeg,
Thanks for the information!!
I just got the printer last week and have not had a chance to play with it except to print on the cardboard insert and one printable CD-R. I was not happy with the results on either and went back to CD-R labels.
I'll try your suggestions and see how it works!Evil flourishes when good men do nothing. -
I have had some good results with the printer but only when I create my own labels with text and colour only. Picture quality is somewhat poor even at 1440dpi which I suspect is due to the quality of the printable surface. Although the printer is capable of 2880dpi, when using that setting it throws all of the print areas out. Copytrax recomend 1440dpi max when printing on disc.

Using Vandakeg's suggestions,
I set the Inner Diameter to 35mm,
the Outer Diameter to 117 mm,
the MediaType to Matte Paper - Heavyweight,
Print Properties to Best Photo.
Printing on Memorex Print CD-R the quality was outstanding.Evil flourishes when good men do nothing. -
Don't mean to lead things away from the topic.... But there are many people reading this, thinking about buying a printer for CD's. There are 2 of us trying to make a printer or 2 to print CD's down in the computer forum. Please take a moment to go down and lend a hand if you are into this sort of thing. Might come up with some pretty cheap solutions for printing CD's.
