  1. Ok so your DVDPlayer plays VCD but wont play SVCD, yes we all know about the header trick but that usually causes people alot of problems. If your player will play VCD try this guide I wrote. I call it nonstanderd SVCD simply because we use the SVCD template in TMPGEnc and change a bunch of things.

Yes i said we use the SVCD template. OK my dvdplayer is a whitewesting house pos dvdplayer that will not play SVCD and the header trick doesnt work well at all.

here is the guide I wrote with screenshots included for every step

With this guide you should be able to create a VCD with picture and audio quality very close to SVCD, let me know what you guys think, this works very well for me so maby this will help other people as well

Seems to me that what you've created is a VCD with a bitrate of 2000 Kb/s, no? Doubling (almost) the standard VCD bitrate will give better quality to a point, but your resolution is still limited.

An easier method would be to use a standard VCD template, load the unlock template and then crank up the bitrate. No need to use an SVCD template at all.

Just a couple of observations. 8)

  4. the structure settings for the svcd template are different as well as the motion search and a few other details, this is why you can still only fit what you would a standard svcd, also the bitrates are different as well the bitrate in my method has the minimun of a starderd svcd being 1600 is the lowist you can go, so it is different than a regular vcd in that aspect too,

ive tryed using the vcd template and channging the bitrate but the quality is shit plus i get bad skip issues like every 5 minutes the video will jump a head where as with my method its perfect
