  1. Hi there,

I have two avi files both with framerate 23.576, ac3 sound and srt subtitles.

I used VirtaulDub to enlarge (720x480) and insert the srt subs into movie. the i frameserved the movie to tmpgenc to make the m2v file.
I saved the ac3 using direct stream copy as wav in vdub.

So Finally i have two movie.m2v files (both 23.576) and 2 movie.ac3 files.
Now i need to author these.... how do i do that?

tmpgenc dvd author: Can't handle 23.576 framerate
ifoedit: can't handle more than one m2v file
    Ulead moviefactory 2: can't handle ac3

    Any suggestions?

  2. Mux the ac3 file with the m2v file to create 2 mpeg2 files and you can then use DVD workshop to author your disc. Providing you don't want to insert chapters towards the ends of the files as workshop also has problems with 23.976 fps video. But as long as you dont want to add chapters it works fine.

  3. Use pulldown.exe on your m2v files before doing anything else. This adds the 3:2 pulldown flags to make your 23.976 fps mpeg-2 files play back at the DVD required rate of 29.976fps, by duplicating fields to achieve the required framerate and speed. Then follow Craigs advice, or TmpGenc DVD Author should now accept them.

  4. oke,

    how do i mux m2v and ac3?
I normally use tmpgenc to mux m2v and mp2 (or mpa).

When i select ac3 file to mux, it tells me that this is a illegal stream... so i thought maybe tmpgenc can't handle ac3 files.

Do you know another proggy to mux m2v and ac3?
Or am i doing something wrong with that ac3 file (is there maybe some kind of a header that i first need to remove?

  5. Yep, V-Dub leaves a WAV header on the AC3 so you need to remove it with AC3Fix or Besliced.

  6. ac3fix works for me and is very simple to use. tmpgenc will then accept the ac3 stream
