Bug advice and hopefully firmware corrections for The Lite-On LDW-401s drive. If someone on the forum has a direct email to Lite-On tech support please post here so we may provide some feedback directly to Lite-On.
Apart from known issues of ADIP reading on blank +R/RW media and the inability to set book-type with this drive the following is reported.
LiteOn DVDRW LDW-401s firmware ES0E.
BUG IN FIRMWARE.
nicw author of DVDInfoPro and studebarc have discovered what seems to be a bug
in the firmware when reading a +R disc.
The MMC READ_CAPACITY command (OPERATION CODE (25h) ) is returning incorrect data
when reading a +R disc.
The response data bytes 0 - 4 Logical Block Address, should contain the last user
addressable block (last recorded address in the last track of the last complete
session.
It does just that for -R discs. On +R discs however it seems to return the
address of the last block in the user data area rather than the last addressable
block, which is clearly incorrect. No other burners tested to date show this same
problem.
it can be demonstrated by using DVDInfoPro and looking the "media info" on a used
disc in the liteon drive. The liteon will show the "Format Capacity" always as full
size of the disc, while other burners will show the formatted size.
Please submit other issues to this forum with this drive, perhaps some are operator correctable, some perhaps via firmware.
Regards
Studebarc![]()
