  1. Hi folks,

I'm experiencing out of sync audio during the dvd burn process using Ulead MoveFactory despite the fact that the source MPG2 file is fine.

I know audio/video synch problems are fairly common but I thought it tended to happen during the encoding phase ? The original avi file was encoded to mpg2 with TMPGEnc.

    Cheers,
    Tony

this is not technically possible - the track on the DVD is multiplexed (fixed) with video/audio and cannot change as it's burnt on the disk.

If the final DVD plays fine on your PC then I would say that the problem is with your DVD player (older players sometimes suffer from this). Make sure your DVD is 100%complient (Ulead should check this but having never used it I'm not sure) and make sure your Audio is 48KHz.

  3. Mmm... Not sure I follow.

The mpg2 file produced from the avi (via TMPGEnc) is fine.

I burn the mpg2 to dvd and the disk has sync problems on both the pc and the standalone dvd player.

    Is this not possible ?

    Cheers,

    Ok ..

There is actually 1 more stage (authoring) in getting a MPG file to a burnt DVD.

You're MPG file needs to be converted to a DVD format (a VOB) before it can be burnrt onto the DVD - this stage is called the 'Authoring' - and I assume here that Ulead is doing this automatically for you. This is where the problem lies not in the burning of the DVD (assuming here that the MPG is perfect as you say it is).

Have you got any details on the MPG - ie format (PAL?), frame rate (fps), audio bitrate, audio sampling frequency (48KHz, 44.1Khz?)

Once you have these, you need to check that Ulead handles these OK - for example if you have a 24fps MPG and are using a PAL template for Ulead then this will be the issue. Ulead SHOULD warn against the invalid format but it may not...

Let me know the settings are we'll take it from there ....

  6. Hi guys,

I'm burning to DVDrw. It could be a media or a resource problem on the PC. I'll check the input file spec and post back.

Thanks for your help so far.
