I bought a Pioneer A06 from www.blankdiscshop.co.uk for £129 3 weeks ago and although everything was working fine, the rip speed I was getting was no more than 2.31x for some reason.
They told me to update the firmware which I did to 1.06 and updated my Nero 6 which again I did but to no success. They also sent out decent media for me to try and again no joy. They then replaced the unit on Friday and yet again I can't rip above 2.31x.
Is there anything I can try ? I've been testing it with Nero Speed Disk test. It writes at 4x with no problems, just the read speed thats giving me a problem.
Any suggestions before I tell them to give me my money back ?!?!
Thanks in advance...........

dvd writers are limited to 2x rip speed for movies (to help protect against piracy) its not just your drive that sufferes its the same for all dvd writers there is nothing you can do to change this. you would be better off ripping with a dvd-rom drive (not a writer) the liteons are very good and offer excellent ripping speeds
