  1. Hello

Is it possible to rip an entire DVD-9 to Hd.
Then frameserv just the movie to CCE
And then use IfoEdit to replace the "original" movie with the new Re-encoded, and by this keeping all menu chapters etc.
(Maybe just remove all audiotracks but one)

Im very new to IFoedit, just tried a little for fun.

Please dont tell me: "use dvd2one instead" or something like that.

  2. try using dvd2dvdr, it uses cce and re-authors back for you.
just reserve some mbs in dvd2dvdr then use ifoupdate to put it back with the extras.

  4. As i would like to Do everything manually, i used DVD2AVI and frameserved the main movie to cce. Did a 3 pass vbr. But the finished mpv.file wont play properly in WMP or Powerdvd. The whole movie is there but it dont play, i can jump anywhere in the movie but all i get is a still frame of that position. Actually it plays for a few seconds in the begining before this error beging

  5. I believe you'll have to run 3:2 pulldown on the file to 'take' it from 23.976fps to 29.976fps.. you can dl it from the 'Tools' section, just to the left

  6. Well sorry that i forgott to say it's pal.
Another thin confusing is that when i've done my settings in the Video tab(cce2.66) and look back there later the package size has changed to 120 from 2048

    HI,

Like me I prefer to use CCE & IfoEdit as the quality is far superior to ANY of these quick methods - especially with long 2 1/2 hr+ movies.

The MPV from the CCE encode won;t play as a DVD until it is muxed back with the AC3 file (use Ifoedit for this as well).

If you want to put the chapters in , just use ifoedit on the original IFO, do 'save celltimes from the movie PGC' , close ifoedit.

In the authoring above, just select this 'celltimes.txt' file and this will put in all your original movie chapters exactly where they should be.

    Hope this helps..

  8. Thanx for youre answer, but a correct encoded file in CCE should play in Windows media player or any player that can handle mpg.

Im a litte unsure about the settings in CCE, as It seems as diffrent guides say different stuff. What setting do you use? And about chapters, didnt know that one thanx.

If the source is interlaced (stated by DVD2AVI) how do i know if to choose upper field or not in CCE?

And also i would like to keep menus and just strip unwanted sound and subs. So i was hoping to use the remux funktion in IFOEdit after i sripped out the unwanted stuff. And If I use the remux is the chapters keept that way as the .ifo-file is based on the original?

    Try this: http://www.tecoltd.com/bitratev.htm

  10. No, you CAN NOT do this. In theory it should work with IFOEdits re-mux/replace m2v function but for some reason the m2v files generated by CCE don't work with IFOedit for this. You can use rempeg2 to do this thou (not sure about TMPGenc, but given that it also goes through DVD2AVI I doubt it).

That's a long link but it explains the everything.

  11. 2 bad.
So then what to do if you want to keep menu and still use CCE?

  13. Ok thanx.
Maybe I'm lacy or just plain stupid, but it seem pretty complicated.
Ive been doing some backups using DVD2ONE, is the quality In CCE worth all the trouble and extra time.

  14. I have found that for full backups Pinnacle Instantcopy with films around 2 hours or less gives excellent results, for me personally, I dont like extras and only do main movie backups, and have found DVD2DVD-R is the perfect easy solution if backing up Pal DVD's.

I cannot vouch for this method below due to not yet having tried it, but give it a go:

Ok this is my way of copying exactly dvd9 to dvd5 just done LOTR and Minority report keeping everything.
Start DVDdecryptor and select everything EXCEPT the main movie vobs and make a note of the size then rip the whole movie to hdd then get this program DVD2DVDR (it uses CCE to encode) which is freeware

    http://www.mrbass.org/dvd2dvdr/

This is how i did Lord of the rings...

1)Run DVD2DVDR and select just the movie files and all audio.

    2) The DVD minus the main movie was 1.8(approx)gig,so I wanted to leave 1.9 gig on the disc for extras, so I put this value in DVD2DVDR in the 'mb reserved' box

    3) I ran DVD2DVDR and the proggy ripped the main movie files and encoded to a size of 2.30 gigs

    4) I ended up with a new m2v file 6ac3 and 1 Dts files

    5) These files were added into Maestro, then compiled

    6) Maestro gave me a Video_ts folder with my new vobs, and ifo's etc....

    7) rename the vobs in the maestro folder to the name of the main movie vobs in the DVDdecryptor folder

8 ) I then deleted the original movie vobs in the DVDdecryptor folder and copied the renamed vobs from the maestro folder into the DVDdecryptor folder. COPY OVER ONLY THE VOBS NOTHING ELSE!

9)I then selected all the files in the DVDdecryptor folder to see their size, and they came out at 4.2 gigs........PERFECT!!

    10) I ran ifoupdate (not ifoedit), selected original movie IFO from the folder DVDdecryptor made, and selected the authored IFO from the folder Maestro had made. I clicked 'IFO UPDATE', and then get vts sectors
    11) Finished. I now have a VIDEO_TS folder containing all the extras and menus and a main movie which had been encoded to fit with the rest of the DVD structure to get below 4.3 gigs.

12)Burn with your favourite burning program

Wella fully working exact duplicate....(apart from subtitles that is) which ime working on

  15. Ok, sound good apart from the subtitles. Only thing is DVD2DVDR seems to use ALOT of HDspace during the action. But i'll guess i'll have to buy anotherone soon anyway.
