Got my first DVD-writer two months ago and I have recently begun to convert my old SVCD-movies to 1/2-D1 resolution to be put on DVDRs. I've tried DVD-SVCD but they don't seem to work on my DVD-player.
I know that 1/2-D1 isn't as sharp as SVCD and I know that I'll loose some of the quality when I reencode the SVCDs no matter what bitrate I use.
My SVCDs are encoded with a VBR (max 2520). As I said before, I won't get rid of the already existing macroblocks no matter what bitrate i use. But what is the minimum bitrate I can use to not get more macroblocks?
I think that 2550 would be enough to not get new macros. But I want to ask someone who really knows.
Thanks
