  1. In this: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=171852 topic I was asking for a DVD, where to buy it. The moderator snowmoon said it had never been released on DVD. He's wrong! I can prove it. Click on this: http://www.5iveusa.com/REC-GHtape.htm link and you'll see I'm right. I didn't mean an illegal DVD!

After reviewing the original post, I agree with snowmoon. Most comsumers living in the US beleive Asian releases are bootlegs. Many still do not beleive that you can get officiallly released DVDs from Europe that are yet released in the states for years.

I have never had an issue buying DVD's and VCD's from Hong Kong. They don't come hidden or anything (custom 's paperwork and Tariffs/taxes are added to the price, along with shipping). I have never heard of anyone in the US having something siezed at the border (certain types of porn not withstanding).

Out of region DVD's may not be 'legal' but the US makes zero effort to stop them from entering the country. Maybe because everything is released in the US first? You gotta like Kung-Fu movies or Brittish commedies to do this....

It took over a year for 28days to reach the US, didn't it? Johnney English was released in the UK first. Even Troma movies typically are seen in France before NY.

I don't buy DVDs and VCDs from Asia, only from trusted sites in the U.S. and Australia.

    Beware of bootlegs!!

Australia to fight internet movie piracy

According to the director of anti-piracy operations for the Motion Picture Association (MPA) in the Asia Pacific region, Michael Ellis, Australia will be the new battleground to fight growing internet film piracy in South-East Asia. The country needs to show its leadership in the fight against the "rage of internet piracy".

The MPA announced it would increase its budget for anti-piracy measures in Australia, and establish the Australia Federation Against Copyright Threat to aid the campaign. Communications Minister Richard Alston agreed that the internet posed a major challenge for the film industry, and pledged to be "tough on piracy."
An announcement on new legislation was expected before the end of the year, but Senator Alston said he didn't believe arresting people who downloaded movies at home was the answer.
The industry plans to battle piracy by seeking increased penalties for those illegally uploading movies, educating people about the impact of piracy on working people, and devising a business plan for affordable and legal distribution of movies on the internet.

  13. Australia is the "new battleground for internet piracy"...

Considering we have a home broadband uptake less than that of Estonia, I don't think it will be much of a battle.

I happen to own a commercially pressed Retail DVD of Shai Lin Soccer, which coincidentally was released in theaters in the US last Friday. I bought this months ago from Hong Kong. I was initially released some time ago.

This is the first time I've had this happen to me. I guess it's common in Europe. It's better in Chinese anyway (like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was). This might also explain why there are DVD versions floating around on the Internet.
