  1. Ok, I have 4 SVCD's that have been captured from the TV using one of those VCD Recorders, and I would like all four on one single DVD+R with a menu. The .mpg file on the SVCD is about 798mb which I thought was a little strange seen as normal CD's only hold 700mb. I have tried simply copying and pasting the .mpg file to my hard drive but it stops half way through. I have tried ISOBuster and that crashes aswell.

    Does anyone have any suggestions
    Thanks

  2. Yep you can do it. You just have to reencode unless you want to make a DVD that doesn't comply with the standards. Also say if you want to combine them or no. Post back with your response or PM me.

  3. The first thing is the reason your SVCD is 798 MB's is because it uses a different mode then your regular CD's. There is mode 1 and mode 2. SVCD's use mode 2. Under the mode 2 specs you can fit about 800 MB's on an "CD"...and i've actually overburned as much as 809 mb's or so if I remember correctly.

Anyway, as far as getting the .mpg file to your hard drive....you should be able to copy and paste it..but since you can't..simply try to Drag the file off your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive and drop it onto your desktop...not in a folder...just on the desktop itself. That should work.

If it doesn't you can make an .ISO of the disk with programs like Nero or RecordNow Max.

    Good Luck.

  4. Hi thanks for the response. The 4 SVCD's that Ive got are episodes that have been captured from the TV. I would like a DVD with a menu so I can choose either episode. I have tried just dragging the .mpg file to my desktop but that didn't work. When I put the file through DVD-lab it gave these error messages:

    Not a 11172-2 or 13818-2 Video Stream
If this is a capture from TV it may have missing/wrong header

I tried fixing the missing/wrong header in DVD-lab but it doesn't do anything just says 'Nothing Done'.

I managed to copy one of the SVCD's mpg files using ISOBuster but the others won't budge.

I wondered is it possible to create an image of the SVCD like an ISO and create a DVD with the 4 ISO's?

    Thanks

  5. You say ISOBuster won't budge on the other three files, what do you mean by this ?

  6. It starts extracting the file but when it gets to 42% on one and 97% on the other it stops and says it can't read the file. I've managed to do a straight copy and paste of the other two now though
    Thanks

    This may work:

Make a Nero image or CloneCD imago or CUE/BIN or ISO of the CD. Mount in DAEMON TOOLS. Reencode if you feel the need and you prolly should redo the audio. Load up in DVDLab.

  8. thanks funkyguy4 i made an image with CloneCD and then when I double clicked it ISOBuster opened it. I then extracted the .mpg file from the image. Now I just need to make the 4 .mpg files in to a DVD. I'm currently running them through SVCD2DVDMPG because TMPGEnc Author would not open them because of the resolution????

Anyway thanks for all the help

Yeah you should probably reencode to Half D1 MPEGs and AC3 audio for full DVD compliance.

A "normal" CD mode occupies some space for error correction (in case of the disc gets scratched it could be still playable.

Since the (S)VCD mode has some kinda error correction built in the stream it saves up that space so thats the reason you can burn 800MB on a "700MB" CD.
