I just tried to burn a project with VERITAS RecordNow for the first time and got this error:
"One or more of your files did not compare to the originals. It is recommended you try and create your disc again."
After recording a data disc, one or more files did not verify correctly with the original source file.
Anyone ever see this error? Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong or how to correct this from happening? Any help would be appreciated.
Chachiface
ps- I copied the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS files using "Made a Data Disc".

Does the disc play in a DVD player? In the 300 or so burns I have done I have seen that error only one time however the disc played fine.

Bob,
Yes, I just tried it and it played in my Toshiba. Not sure what the error means or if it has defected the data on the disc in anyway but it played fine.
Anyone else? Is this a harmless error?

@chachiface, unfortunately, that error usually occurs when their is some type of file corruption. Also, when you play the DVD it will skip or jitter when it gets to the point of file corruption. It will probably only happen once or twice...but could happen more.
What are your backup methods? If it's a movie you could bare watching...I would watch it as soon as you can. You should see this skipping somewhere during the movie.
What backup methods did you use? -
defense,
Back up methods? I'm not sure what you mean.
This is what I did...
Captured the footage using Dazzle DVC-150 from an anolog source (VCR). Then authored it using DVD-lab. Then created an empty AUDIO_TS folder. Then opened VERITAS RecordNow and chose "create a data disc". Then imported the 2 folders, AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS...then hit okay. After the burn, that's when I saw the error. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

@ chachiface, your backup method is exactly what you just explained.
It's your method of "backing" up DVD's. Everyone has their own preferences...I haven't heard too many good things about Dazzle products...but if they work for you...then you should use what your happy with.
Let me ask you this. Have you used the same backup methods for other dvd's and then burned with Record Now Max? If so, then it appears your doing everything fine. That error message is rare with RNM but it isn't harmless to me because inevitabley skipping will occur at the point of the file corruption RNM detects.
Did you watch the movie yet in its entirety? If so, did you see the skipping? IF you did, then I suggest you simply start over from scratch and re-do your project as something occurred along the way. But ONLY if you have successfully used this method on other backups.
Let me know.
