Just got myself a brand new DVD player. The Old Alba was an excellent buy at the time but I was in desperate need of a better quality player and one with 5.1 audio. Also, the alba seemed to have a problem with certain DVD's (Jaws wouldn't play properly) Anyway, am very happy with my purchase of the Compacks DVD5000 and within minutes I used the hack and made it multi-region. The only problem I have is this:

I have a Beko 16:9 TV and sometimes when I'm watching a DVD on the Compacks, my TV switches from 16:9 to 4:3 on its own (something that never happened with the Alba) and I get two black borders (one on the left and one on the right) It's easily rectified by pressing 16:9 again on my TV but why is this happening? My DVD is connected to my TV by scart lead and I've read somewhere (think it's in my TV book) that it uses a signal being picked up via the scart lead to distinguish whether the source is 16:9 or 4:3. If this is so, does anybody know which pin on the scart lead the signal is sent and if it's on a non-important one (ie: not audio or video), can I simply cut the wire to that pin in the scart lead to stop my TV switching between the two TV modes? Any help would be much appreciated.
