I read somewhere that the DVD+VR format allows to produce a DVD that can be edited over time, while keeping compatibility with home DVD video recorders and standard DVD players (of course decks have to be compatible with DVD+RW).

This option sound really good to me, especially when considering the advantages of adding additional, or modifying older, stuff without starting the project all over again and without the need of burning a complete new DVD every time.

Is there any good application for doing this?

A friend of mine has a Pioneer DVD-RW and he was told that DVD-VR cannot be played back in a standard DVD player, even if the player was DVD-RW compatible. Can anyone validate this?

    Thanks.
