  1. aiight, i've been doing a lot of reading about video capturing and the available devices, and i have come to the conclusion that i either want an ATI AIW 7500 or a Pinnacle MovieBox (prolly firewire....i have USB2 ports as well).

    my question is, what do u guys think? since i have a nice PNY G4 Ti4200 card in my DVD machine right now (originally for games, but i don't have the time right now for em), i was leaning towards the MovieBox. i would be capturing old home movies via S-Video (see other thread of mine) into raw AVI, editing them and then encoding it to MPEG2...i know the MovieBox can do real-time MPEG2, but i want the truest video for editing before i encode.

    i've heard good things about both methods (and really like the ATI products), but i just can't make a decision . i guess i could sell my Ti4200 card on fleeBay to help offset the cost for the AIW 7500 since i don't play that many games anymore.

    thanks for the advice....sturmie

    btw, some of the video i will be moving to DVD is gonna be my wedding ...i'm getting married next weekend. so, obviously, i'd like the best, reasonably priced solution available.

    Grab the ATI. And don't let those anti-MPEG capture people fool you. I capture MPEG2 all the time, and the final product and the source are indistinguishable. I have no use for AVI, except on rare occasions when I get fancy with Premiere and After Affects.

  4. g_shocker182;

    I am considering the Pinnacle Moviebox.

    How is the quality of the capture?

    What capture app is used? I assume the Pinnacle Studio is used for
    capturing and burning to DVD

    Thanks for the help.
