I've had similiar errors with an old CD burner before, and sometimes it's bad media, but it could also mean the burner is going bad. My first CD burner went bad, and was reporting errors about power calibration all the time when it did. Do you get this with any blank media you try? Bad media can sometimes come in batches, so try again with brand new media instead of another disc from the same pack. Sorry that I can't be much more help with your particular DVD burner, as I've only experience similar problems with a CD burner. Good luck.

thanx oliver,i too had the same theory but it's just the recognizing a blank as audio that throws me,could well point to the same conclusion,of media as i am using a new batch,so quite possible.
good suppliers are harder to find here in the uk

In the UK, eh ?
Have you tried SVP at www.blankdiscshop.co.uk ?
I use them quite extensively, and they do sample packs for not a lot of dosh.
Have a look, they do quite a good range from the decent Ritek's to the jap-crap on a budget.
