Hi. I have a project which I shot on miniDV, edited in Premiere, encoded with TMPGEnc (8000 CBR, MPEG 1 Layer II Audio), and authored and burned with Ulead Movie Factory 2.
It plays fine in my computer, but not necessarily fine elsewhere.
On my own DVD player, it stutters pretty badly during parts where there is a black background with white text, or a white background with some black graphics, and when it fades to black then back up. When there's full video, it plays smoothly.
On my friends DVD player, it seems to run fine.
On his Playstation 2, it stutters some during the black backround/white text parts, and when the video fades up from black, it freezes briefly then continues playing smoothly after that.
Any ideas?

I am having the same problem. Not using the same tools however I am using DVD lab...it is quite possible that it is your DVD Player ....
Maybe your player needs udf 1.02 not 1.05 I am not sure what mode ulead or dvd lab burns with ....How long could we maintain? I wondered. How long until one of us starts raving and jabbering at this boy? What will he think then?

Hmm. I was thinking of authoring and burning the project with DVDLab to see if that made a difference. Have you found a solution to the problem? I wonder why my DVD player and my friend's Playstation 2 have trouble with the disc, but not his DVD player.
What do you mean by "udf"?
And has anyone else out there had this problem and/or know what to do about it? -
I beleive there are two types of modes to dvd burning...Nero allows you to
choose this newer players play 1.05 mode and 1.02 is the most compliant which in fact in nero when you have 1.02 selected it recommendts you use it for play on xbox etc
Still no joy the problem could be alot of things here are some specs
CCE Video
Average 2608
Min 1000
Max 9000
Audio Tmpenc
192 mpa
DVd lab to compile it does not happen all the timeHow long could we maintain? I wondered. How long until one of us starts raving and jabbering at this boy? What will he think then?

I beleive i have my max setting to high I am after all making a half dvd I beleive i should have the max set between 3000 and 4000....
The massive spikes in bitrate would cause the problem
