  1. I copied and pasted all files of a dvd9 to my hd. is there a possibility to split it to two and burn it to two dvd-r. I don't have the original dvd anymore that is why I can't use "dvd dycrypter" and "dvdfab".

If you don't have the original DVD, then you aren't allowed to "copy" (REirate) the movie. To do so is illegal and violates the rules of this board.

    SLK001,

I think that comment was a little premature and judgmental. Especially for someone new.

    1) You do not know that the DVD-9 is copyrighted.

    2) If it does happen to be, maybe he copied the original to his HDD before he lost it or it was damaged.

It amazes me how some people jump to conclusions before they have all the information. I do recognize there is an issue with people pirating, but I also believe people should be given the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

    muratturel,

I can not address your problem. Perhaps someone else will.

  4. You can't just copy/paste the files from a DVD to your HD, they are encrypted and won't work. If you don't have the DVD you are SOL....

    1) DVD-9 - a pressed disk (definitely copywrited).

    2) FAIR USE - YOU MUST REMAIN IN POSSESSION OF THE ORIGINAL TO MAKE AND USE A BACKUP. Or, if you "lose" your original, you must destroy the backup.

Judgmental? Not really... Just trying to keep muratturel from breaking the forum rules.

    *ahem*

AT ANY RATE, I'm not certain if you can decrypt after-the-fact.

Assuming that you just dragged 'n' dropped you may very well be SOL if the disc was encrypted. Anyone care to clarify this? Unless you used AnyDVD (on-the-fly decryption) you're pretty much stuck.

Firstly slkoo1; what is your mission in life...
To make your life a living hell.

do you think you are a correction oficer?
No, I am an FBI officer.

what are you trying to say?
I thought that I was clear - You are not allowed to backup a video that you do NOT own.

    not everybody is you
    Sadly, this is true...

"backing up" the movies you have alreday bought...
Yes, but you are only allowed to backup movies of originals that you own.

jst because all you d is that not necessarly I am doing the same...
What makes you think that I do this?

AM I ALLOWED TO CAPTURE MY NEPHEWS BETAMAX BEING BORN AND GROWING-UP VIDEOS AND PUT THEM ON A DVD????????????????????????
Sure you are... But this is the first inference to your having made a capture.

    WHAT COPYRIGHT YOU TALKING ABOUT???
I was talking about that DVD9 that you "copied" onto your hard disk. You know, the one that you already returned the DVD to the rental store.

HOW DARE YOU (SOMEONE I DON'T KNOW) TELLING ME I SHOULD DELETE THOSE ?????
I didn't tell you to delete them. I only told you that if you were no longer in possession of the originals, you needed to destroy your backups to comply with the law.

GO & MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS
Abiding by the rules is everybody's business.

IF YOU ARE BRAINY ENOUGH TUDY LAW AND BECOME A LAWYER OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT....
I already have a law degree.

ones like slkoo1 are everwhere these days...
No. Unfortunately, there is only one of me!

Thank you. I enjoyed chatting with you.

  13. dear GURM

last night I spent some time donwloding installing the DVDFAB. Managed to make two files (disc one & disc two). Hopefully tonight if somebody teaches me how I can make either the winoncd or the nero to detect my sony dru550ax I will be burning two dvd-r's.
O at this point I still wonder what a program like dvd decrypter does while I just right clicked onthe dvdfiles and copied them and after I right clicked onthe c:/ and pasted them???

Once I get a result I will announce here.

If there was no encryption on the DVD, then a program like DVD Decrypter is unnecessary.

There ARE, believe it or not, a FEW DVD's out there with no protection.

I'd double check that those files actually contain usable data before I go about authoring and burning them, though. Seriously. Fire up your DVD player software (PowerDVD, WinDVD, whatever) and try to play those VOBs. You might find that they're full of garbage because of the encryption on the DVD - which is what DVD Decrypter is intended to overcome.

  15. You can try DVD Crypter 3.0.0.13. I ususally use DVD Crypter to rip the movie to my HDD. I then use IFOedit to restructure the VOBs and NAV Packs.

I even recently split my DVD9 movie while it was on my HDD with DVD Crypter.

I would try to use DVD Crypter.
