  1. After reading and trying all the FAQs here and at Doom9, trying Svcd2DVD program, I've come to the conclusion that it can not be done successfully without re-encoding....

So for now, I'm going to do what works for me. Re-encode my Svcd mpegs to DVD compliant mpegs using Tmpgenc...

I've wasted too much time with Svcd2Dvd and all the FAQs...

Svcd2Dvd did create DVD mpegs but they only filled up 3/4s of my TV screen. The other 1/4 was either blank or a duplicate of an area already displaying....

    Too frustrating for me....

Have you used SVCD2DVDMPG? I use the "+" version all the time to convert my SVCDs that I DL from the net to DVD compliant Mpegs that can be reauthored in other programs. I have no complaints with this software other than it needs work for it's own authoring part of the program, especially with menu creation. It has now become standard for me to burn TV series dics for my friends whose players won't accept SVCDs.

IFOEDIT 0.95 offers an easy method. Demultiplex your SVCD mpg with TMPEG. IFOEDIT 0.95 will author the DVD from the m2v and mp2 files. It will correct the 480x480 to 720x480 and will even except the audio with 44100 sample rate. Just rename the mp2 to mpa,IFOEDIT will work from the mp2 but the progress bars won't work unless you use the mpa extension.

  4. have you tried this guide: https://www.videohelp.com/svcddvdr.htm

    no converting....

however, SVCD MEPG-2 isn't supported by DVD standard, so the SVCD-DVD you create may not be as compliant as if you were to convert your SVCD MPEG-2 to DVD compliant MPEG-2

  5. Yup tried them except IFOEDIT, I may try that....

SVCD2DVD (not the + version) just doesn't work so why would I want to throw money on the registered version...

No interest in SVCD-DVDs but thanks for the link....

Please try post in correct forum. I'm moving this one.

No reconverting will always make it to a "dvd-svcd"/"svcd-dvd" and it will not work perfect on some dvd players. SVCD2DVDMPG+ has a option to make it work better on some players(pioneer). But you will never get a 100% compliant dvd.

If you bothered to check into things a little, you'd discover that there's a simple toggle in SVCD2DVDMPG that allows you to patch all the headers, and make it work in your player.

But you just felt like bitching instead, didn't you?

  9. Or you could reencode the MPEG to a Half-D1 or Full-D1 MPEG2 (bleck), but that would suck. As for the audio, MP2 is non-standard DVD stuff, so you should probably be converting to AC3 using BeSweet or your authoring App.......

    Gurm,

As I posted earlier I did follow all the FAQs on this issue here and at Doom9. I also read postings by ChrissyBoy author of this sofware and "YES" I did have patch all headers checked in SVCD2DVD. It does not work. The resulting DVD only oppupies about 3/4 of my Tv's screen. The other 1/4 is part of the film reduplicated and squeezed.

IMHO, that's a problem of your player and not of the program.I have 2 players, one can show the SVCD-DVD correctly, the other can't.
But after adjusiting the AR with IfoEdit, the SVCD-DVD now works on both players.
One remark: my player allows to set the AR independant of the DVD.Have you checked, if it's set to 'Origin'?

Try burning an XSVCD-DVD. I think you player is treating the filelike it's 720x480, thus, the shrinkage from 480 to whatever. I think this will work.

Your Author thingy reencoded and letterboxed the 480x480 into a 720x480 with bars on the side. Do it another way.,

  18. Go use a different authoring app or reencode to Half-D1 or Full D1. Try DVDLab if you haven't
