I'm just trying to burn an avi to DVD to watch on DVD player.
I want to keep things as simple as possible, so I'm using ULead DVD Movie Factory to do the AVI to DVD conversion as well as the burn.
The conversion works but produces a set of files that are too big to fit on the DVD (VOB, IFO etc).
I then tries to use Nero to burn a DVD from these files and this too complained that there wasn't enough space.
When I add the AVI in ULead the size bar tells me the film is 1h 30 minutes long, well within the 4.7GB limit. Despite this after waiting hours for the conversion, the files generated are too big for the DVD.
There is an option in ULead that appears to let you choose what quality of picture to create, anthing from high (60minutes) to low (6 hours worth). When I set this it seems to be ignored.
Am I using ULead incorrectly?
Finally I want to be able to burn a series of AVIs to DVD and I don't care too much about the quality of the DVD. I just want to get as much on the disk as possible. What's the best tool for this?
Thanks very much in advance

After you have created the DVD file set in movie factory use DVDshrink (free program) to reduce the overall size down so that it will fit onto a single DVDR disc then do the burn.

I also use the dvd2one trick. I produce my disks at highest quality setting and let dvd2one "full disk" reduce to fit on disk.
