has anyone ever helped someone convert a video through remote assistance. man im telling you that is some hard S**t. cause its all slow and the other person doesnt have all the tools, and then you cant check your video to see if it looks good you cant check to see if the audio is out of sync. its so frustrating.

Have I used remote access? Yes. For video encoding? No. I used it at my last job to show teachers the answers to their questions, because I didn't feel like walking across campus.

remote assitance? no, i wouldn't touch it. i do however use a proggy called RealVNC all the time for operating the machines on our network. it's fine for normal operations, and running things like word or scandisk, but doesn't work too well previewing video clips. if you don't turn direct draw acceleration off then you get no image at all, but even with it off you get about 2/3 fps...
but you can just open the file from your local machine after you're finished with it, so it doesn't really matter. the best thing is that it's multi OS, so i can mess about with my XP encoder, turn off my 2k desktop or reboot my 98 server. all good stuff!
