I am ripping in DVD Decrypter... shouldn't my read speed be higher than 2x?

Most all DVD burner rip speeds are locked at 2X . I believe there is a firmware hack for a few that will let you unlock it .

UberNewb I think I read thsy sony came out with a patch or a firmware to make the DRU500 rip faster like at 12X go to sony's website and look I bet you will find it

Here's the skinny: think about investing like another 50 bucks and getting yourself an internal dvd player. You don't want to be using your burner to rip too may movies--why wear out your burner or misalign the laser. Also, dvd roms rip at much higher speeds. In my puter, I have a DVD rom, a cd burner, and an external Sony dual format burner. The combo works out real well.
