  1. can i convert any video file even if im not shore its divx?
    (im using tmpgenc) if i can the tmpgenc prog convert the files to vcd format so i can burn them to cds and watch them
    on my dvd player?

    Supports video format:AVI,DivX,DV,ASF,MOV,SMR,WMV,MPEG.
    Encode to VCD format (fixed specs), burn as VCD, your player should be able to play VCD and CD-R(W).

    Since you use TMPG, just load a VCD template.
    VCD is MPEG-1 Video 352x240 / 29,97 frames per second NTSC,
    352x240 /23,976 fps NTSC(film), 352x288 / 25 fps PAL,
    1150 kbps + MPEG-1 Audio Layer-2 44,1 kHz /224 kbps
