Ive got a P4-3G(800)/512M with a 300G SATA RAID array.
If i used the VIVO options on a RADEON 9200/9600 would this be
the same quality if then capturing with a Capopus ADVC100??
Thanx Crew

It's a tough call. My guess is that they would be of equal quality. With VIVO, you can capture lossless, but you will have some additional analog noise (very little with my Radeon). You also have the problem of dropped frames which can be minimized but never completely eliminated.
With Canopus, you have an external box that converts to DV, which means less additional noise than the above. Also, there are no dropped frames and perfect audio/video sync. However, it is DV, which is lossy compression.
People say Canopus is easier, but it's only the setup that's easier. Once you have everything calibrated and setup for the VIVO, caputuring is easy. I use VirtualDub and I doubt any DV capture program would be easier.
For me, I'll probably stick with my Radeon, especially since I can capture audio digitally via SPD/IF on my soundcard. Also, capturing lossless is better if you plan to do any heavy filtering (like logo removal).
With my VIVO, I've created DVDs of TV shows that are indistinguishable from the original source. My advice is to start using the Radeon you've got, and only if you have problems then try the Canopus. -

I guess u have not yet bought your card, I have been thinking of going for the 9200 vivo but wanted some advise on its capture quality. I posted a question on the forums but got no reply. In case u go for 9200 please do let me know how is the quality. Thanx in advance! -
I just ordered a new computer from Newegg on Sunday and went with the Radeon 9200 with vivo also. I was about to start a thread asking about its potentiol. I own a Ads Instant USB 1.0 right now and have been using that but because my harddrive was only 5,400 rpms I didnt really count the quality. And I also have a ReplayTv 5400 and I have read that I can use that to capture and stream the media back to my computer via cat-5, so I guess what I am wondering is, is the quality of the vivo on the 9200 better than my other two options? Or is it not worth the time to set it up?
Thanks."Sleep-
