  1. Getting very fustrated here, coastered 3 cd's already!
    I'm having some trouble burning a SVCD in Nero 5.5...

    I have a 2 part avi, (its resolution was 608x256, letterbox format) that I want to burn to SVCD,
    I ripped the audio stream with virtualdub, fixed the AC3 with ac3fix, then converted to a (stereo)wav, bitrate 224 and normalized in goldwave leaving it in 48000HZ, then converted it to a mp2 with headac3he...
    I think the file ws about 96KB....

    I checked the video stream for errors there were non, used CCE to encode the avi into mpv,(leaving the resolution at 608x256,changed to 4:3 for a full screen look, I was experimenting) , the bitrate was VBR 1500min, 2400max MPEG2.

    Now.. I multiplexed the mpv and the mp2 into an mpg with TMPGE...ran it on my computer it worked! the total file size was about 775MB
    so I opened nero and checked svcd burn mode, non complient and burnt it, I can't remeber if i had to over burn .

    Now poped this in my norcent dp215 dvd player and it worked no prob

    I did all the same steps for the 2nd avi
    BUT...
    when I went to burn it in nero, and the 2nd mpg file is only 754MB it ends up telling me my 80 min disc is not big enough to fit the file on which is about 862MB ??????

    Whats going on the first avi was about 61min the 2nd was only 59minand a few second...LESS then the first yet it won't burn to an 80 min cd even with the over burn set to 86 min ( I think thats more then can fit)

    Any ideas whats going on here ??
    Or how I can burn the 2nd SCVD??
    I know that the standard for SVCD is 480x480 at a bitrate or 1500-2500
    so don't think its the 608x256 resolution as the first one plays A ok in my dvd..

    Any help would be appreciated

  3. Try something other then nero, I think it does conversions for you.

    Things that are "Wrong"
    1) The audio is at the wrong sample rate if its 48kHz, for SVCD should be 44.1KhZ
    2) You know its non complient res ie not 480x480

    I would try VCDEasy to make the discs, I use VCDEasy and I've never had the problems that people have posted here when using Nero.
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author
