hello, i am fairly new to this dvd ripping process, so please bear with me.
I am trying to backup my futurama dvd using Pinoy2201's DivX Newbie Guide to divx, first i unlock my dvd, use the decrypter to create the VOB and IFO file, then use DVDx to encode, but when i load the IFO file, i get the following error message;
"authh. dll; cant authenticate drive disk may be not locked"
what the hell does that mean?
i know i have had problems with my dvd rom playing dvds lately since i had to format and reinstall xp, i get an error on powerdvd xp saying "the tv out port on your video card is not working properly, the copy protected disc cannot play with the tv out function is enabled", could that be the problem?, does anyone know how to fix it? is itsoftware related?, i use a Geforce 2 mx400
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Yeah!
Make sure you have run the Micro$oft update program on your XP installation. Get all of the latest updates and especially driver updates.
I had a problem with the TV out port on my ATI card as well and after I updated my XPpro system with service pack 1 and a ton of other critical updates and driver updates the problem went away.Only 3 things are certain in life... Death, Taxes, and SPAM. Of these, only Death seems affordable!

You might also want to get the latest version of DVDx.
I think it is up to 2.x already.Only 3 things are certain in life... Death, Taxes, and SPAM. Of these, only Death seems affordable!

i have already updated xp with the SP1 and crtitcal updates, but to no avail, and in the newbie conversion guide for dvd to divx, it says to use the dvdx 1.7, and even when i try to use dvdx 2.x in another guide, i still get an error, ihave tried to reinstall the progs but still no go, this is so FRUSTRATING!!!

I use XP with no updates whatsoever, and DVDX 2.2 with no problems?.

i wouldn't do that newbies guide.use a real program like gordian knot at www.doom9.org
or if you want easy, use flaskmpeg.
you should rip the vobs to the hard drive first.
there is a windows driver the helps with unlocking the dvd,but i cant remember what its called.i think it use to be in the tools section.
FYI,xp sp1 has bugs and can cause more problems then it fixes. -
If you are encoding straight from DVD just play the movie for a few seconds. That may keep the error message from popping up. If that doesn't help just click ok and ignore it. If you are encoding from ripped files on your hard drive just click ok and ignore it. It's really no big deal.
