  1. Hello,

I ripped a DVD using DVD Decryptor and saved each chapter as a vts-....ifo and vts....vob, and vts ----info.txt. Because the DVD is larger than will fit on one dvdr, and I'm not interested in compressing it, I wish to re-author the DVD to two dvdrs using the trial version of DVD Author.

When I select the vob file to load into DVD Author I am told that there is no audio. There certainly is audio because I can hear it if I play the vob file in WMP.

Using two different demultiplexers (MPEG VCR and AuthoringwareDemuxer) both tell me that I have AC3 audio after demuxing. However when I try to load the demuxed audio into DVD Author it tells me there has been a fatal error and that the audio is invalid.

I find this confusing because DVD Author claims to support AC3 audio. If I convert the AC3 audio to MPEG 1 layer 2 audio it loads easily, but why should I need to go through this step as well?

I would appreciate any and all advice.

    Thanks!

  2. I did not have trouble using AC3 with the demo of TMPGEnc DVD Author. You may try installing the AC3 Filter codec. It fixed an issue I was having with DivX and AC3. Do a search at google.com. It may be available at this site too.

  3. Hi all.

201flyer, it's probably due to a corrupt header in the AC3 streams (or something like that, lol)
Try using "HeadAC3he", http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/headac3he.html, to fix them.

Try to use the "Import DVD" option instead of importing the streams. I have no trouble importing vobs if there is an IFO in the same folder. Just remember...Import DVD *not* Import File.

You should be able to do exactly what you want without remux/demux or any other reencoding bs. Good luck!

    Hey, that's a good point!!

Re-rip the DVD in file mode, selecting all the files.
Without any further editing, use DVD Author "Import DVD" feature, and point to the folder in which you saved the files.
Then use the "Edit clip" >> "Chapter cut edit" feature to select what you want to keep for the 1st disc.
Create a menu if you want one.
Create a DVD folder as output.
Do the same thing again for your 2nd disc.

  6. Hey Guys,

Thanks for all of your prompt suggestions! I have now tried everything. I did try "Importing DVD." I get an error saying that the .ifo file cannot be opened. Not sure why at all. Unfortunately I do not have the DVD to rip again so I'm stuck with what I have.

I DLed the ac3 filter codec, but it's still no go for me.

Thanks ddlooping! HeadAC3he did the trick!

    Thanks again!
