  1. This seems like the best way to simulate a TIVO using a capture card. You could just burn your captures I suppose but that would get old pretty quick in my opinion.

What I have been doing is setting up recordings via TitanTV and PowerVCR II (on a AverTV card). The recordings all go to one folder and the default names are actually pretty descriptive. I then use a "mod"-ed Xbox with XBMP to browse the share and play the MPG files over an ethernet connection. Pretty slick I think.

What are you guys doing? I am curious what the other options are for this sort of thing.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Not me, a friend of mine, uses the video-out card in his PC (which is upstairs in his house) to a Video Sender (RF device) to play movies on to his main TV in the livingroom, downstairs. That way he can play any format his PC can handle.

Cheap PC + Hollywood+ or similar em8300 mpeg1/2 accelerator, linux, ethernet, and mmsv2.

It's not done yet, but it will output s-video and digital coax to my tv and stereo. The em8300 cards are ancient history for most people and can be had for like $16 USD.

  4. I use an Xcard, http://www.sigmadesigns.com/products/xcard.htm
Works great and has hardware DivX decoding too.

I use a hauppage PVR-250, and SageRecorder for program recording.
