My girlfriend and myself really want to see it. We may go see it this weekend. It looks too cool to pass on.

Good news for all home production people, like me. 28 Days was done on a digital movie camera.

It's a great movie! Though...... being a biologist, I wanted to know more about the virus itself............ but hey, how long has it been since a great Zombie movie has been out.

I got a screener, neener neener neener!

(and legitimately, as well... no flames, please - my friend works for Sony music, he has a hook up for the occasional promo copy)

did you see it in the theater? I was kind of underwhelmed by it.

and as to Best Horror Movie? Sounds like a new (and post-count-inflating) thread to me!!

To be honest....... The Ring really did me in.

Of coarse, it doenst help to watch it alone, at home, at 2:30am in the morning. I waited until it was on DVD and wished I had seen it in the theaters!

The Ring ruled. I loved eerything about it. The end was sweet. It was kinda a slap in the face of other horror movie that end on that "You freed their spirit" crap.

I find that's the best way to watch a lot of horror films... some won't stand up to a party atmosphere with a lot of people around, but are amazingly effective one on one.

I still can't watch Let's Scare Jessica To Death without having the piss scared out of me... last time I did, I had to immediately watch an hour of cartoons before I could walk through my darkened house to get to my bedroom....

  12. the ring was good- but not AMAZING- the ending was gd though!

I LOVED 28 Days later- i dunno why, i just thought it was amazing, its well worth watching, but ppls views on it tend to be very extreem eg love it or really disliked it!

make sure you watch it with the sound up REALLY loud- the music is so well done it just makes the film!!!!

don't know about that, but the funny thing is, The Omega Man was based on the Richard Matheson novel "I Am Legend" (also based on it was the 1964 Italian Vincent Price crap-fest Last Man on Earth, and it definitely influenced George Romero's Night of the Living Dead).

I have read an unreleased script for a fresh adaptation of "I Am Legend", and that seems even closer to the bits of 28 Days Later that I have seen.

So I wonder if Danny Boyle read the script for I Am Legend at some point...

but any way you slice it, it's not a fresh plot by any means - it's a classic "us against them" with some fresh spins on it. I mean, if you think of Zombie movies as a genre, it's always "oh shit, we're surrounded by a teeming multitude of zombies, and if we get bit, we're screwed."

It's hardly ever "Hey, guys... I found this one zombie. If he bites you, you get a wicked head cold."

I was greatly disappointed by it

it was over-rated in the press (best britsh horror in years etc) so I guess I was expecting too much cos it most certainly ain't the best but then again the UK don't produce that many great horrors so maybe its true

I always assumed it had something to do with how well it does in the country its made/introduced in.

For US, at least as far as i know for foreign films, only those that do quite well will make it to US wide theaters, and even then it will only be in a select few.

This rule doesnt appley to places like NY... where you can see a whole host of movies that have never even been introcuded to greater USA theaters.

So im assuming, since it did well in UK, its now making its way to US to make even more $$

foreign films seem to only come out in new york and los angeles. cuz those seem to be the only cities that matter in the us.

  30. I thought 28 days later was ok, but was not worthy of all the critical acclaim it recieved. I think it was over hyped by the critics and media over here, I obviously don't know how much praise has been heaped on it in the US.
