GREETINGS MATE,
THE BEST 4 X DVD-R'S I FOUND WHERE "PIONEER" MAKE DISKS FROM MY LOCAL "PC-WORLD" STORE....THEY SELL IN PACKS OF FIVE FOR AROUND £20......I USE THE PIONEER 105 DRIVE AND THE TWO WORK TOGETHER A TREAT WITH NO PROBS AT ALL WITH BURNING AND IN PLAYING IN STAND-ALONE DVD PLAYERS..........
LIKE THE REST OF US, YOU WILL HAVE TO EXPERIMENT TO FIND YOUR OWN PREFERENCEMATT_THE_MOUSE®™ -
I like the Prime 4x, Optodisc 4x, and Ritek 4x.
All have great results with a Pioneer A05, A03. The Optodisc 4x can not be burnt with my Panasonic LF-D311. Every disc errors out with in 25% of the burning cycle.
Ritek 4x, and Optodisc 4x, always burn at 4x (A05) and 2x (A03). The Prime only burns at 2x sometimes on my A03, always at 4x with A05.
Ritek - ~$1.45
Optodisc - ~$1.30
Prime - ~$1.20
Short of paying $3 each (Pioneer, Verbatim, TDK etc), Ritek could be your best choice. -
Or watch for sales...
I got 20 pack TDK branded 4x DVD+R for $1.50 each on sale at Target a few weeks ago. Work great in my Sony DRU500A at 4X. -

not a HUGE difference...but still the cheapest, nonetheless. Especially if these 4x Memorex disks are all Ricoh manufactured...then essentially they are the same disks as the TDK DVD+R's and would prove to be the "BEST BUY" to date...no pun intended. -
thanks for all the info ill try to see what specials they have at my local best buy and check a couple of online spots

what kind of error are you getting while burning @ 4x?
because I own a A06u...and so far, not able to burn @4x (princo and vertatim(4x certified)
I will like to know the kind of error, becausre right now, I have no idea if it's my drive or DVD-r.
Thanks! -

I use dvd decrypter and transfer the files to a folder. Then I just burn them with CloneDvd 1.1.7.1
