Wondred how good (or bad) Compusa DVD-r media was? Right they are selling a 10pk for $9.99 with $.01 shipping. Any comments?

  2. I have burned well over 150 of them with zero problems. On my Sony DRU500ax they will burn at 2x on the Pioneer 105 1x. IMO it's quality media.

Watch out on which ones you buy. If you get the 10 pack in a box, you're ok. But, if you get the shrinkwrap 10 pack you'll get Princo's.

  5. I think the last batch I got are LeadData. I really don't care who makes them as long as the burn and play.

I just recieved my 2 10-packs for $9.99 from Compusa last week. I checked them with DVDInfo and they are 1X Princos. But for <$1.00 each and not having to buy a 50 or 100-pack, what the heck.

    My personal experiences:

The 25 and 50-piece spindles are Optodisc (true for both -R and +R).
=> These will burn at 2x (or 2.4x) in my Sony DRU500AX w/ 2.0f firmware.

The cardboard boxed DVD-R 10-packs are Lead Data.
=> These only burn at 1x in the same drive

    I have not tried the shrink-wrapped 10-packs

I think it's a gamble regarding whatever media you get from Compusa on this $9.99 per 10-pack deal. One person might get Optorite, another might get Princo. You have no control over it. It might depend upon what warehouse it comes from. My Princos came from Dallas, which is where Compua's headquarters is located, I believe. Maybe all of the $9.99 10-packs come from Dallas. I don't know.
Originally the deal was supposed to expire on July 19. If they're still doing it they must not have gotten rid of all of the cheap media that they needed to get rid of.
