when backing up a DVD to svcd using dvd2svcd, the program has created an image file which is too big for the cd! is there any way of turning a cd image file into an mpeg2 so I can cut it up? any other suggestions would be great!
cheers

You can mount it with daemon tools. This will create a virtual drive with all the information which is stored within the img file. You should then be able to extract what you want.

Hi,
Also, remember that an image file is NOT the size of data that will be readable from the disc, but is actually the WHOLE disc. Including all sectors that should be on a cd.
This way a 800MB image can be recorded onto a 80min CDR without oversizing !!
Just try burning the image with nero or cdrwin.

yes, sorry, i forgot to mention that nero is the program i am using to burn. the image uses up around 900meg. Any idea why the image would have been created that big in the first place?
Craig - daemon tools? Id never heard of it before, but will download. Cheers, buddy! -
Hi,
It could be that DVD2SVCD is set up to create images for 90Min CD's. 900MB fit on these.....

Daemon tools works well, but TMPG wont read the file!!
It works well in WinDVD tho....any ideas which program I can use for this SVCD MPEG2 to cut it or squash it? -

Go here https://www.videohelp.com/bbmpegedit.htm for guide on how to split your files
You can split the mpeg anywhere you want like 2 parts 3 parts 4 parts whatever you want [/quote]
