  1. The software that came with my dvd burner (Intervideo WinCoder and WinProducer) do an OK job of capturing avi's off of my dv camcorder, editing (with chapters etc) and making a dvd compliant mpg2 file.
The file opens fine off the HD with the dvd player on the PC.
How do I take this mpg2 file and burn it to a dvd so that it can play on my set top dvd player?
Can I just put the mpg2 file in a video_TS folder?
    I have nero express.
Other dvds I've made so far have been with TMPGenc and that app makes all these vob files etc (I an't remember exactly what the files are called). TMPG worked fine except that my trial version has expired and I don't have the $ right now to purchase both the encoder and the DVD author packages of TMPG. So I am trying to get the software that came with the burner to get the job done.
    thanks for the help.

  2. You can not just put an mpeg-2 file in a video_ts folder. You doo need them in vob, bup, ifo etc. If you want a free way of doing this, try Ifoedit. There is a guide to using it for DVD authoring in the Author section of this site.

    Hint, look left.

  3. You burner should have come with a DVD authoring app too. Just open the mpeg in it , put in menu's etc. then it will make the DVD files for you to burn.

  4. my burner came with nerovision express.
I tried that first from the avi capture. the resulting dvd had a very poor quality.
I am not sure if it willeven open an mpg2 file, and if so if it'll try to "re-encode" it before burning.
I'll give it a try, it would be the easiest route if the final quality is good.
    thanks
