First, u need to goto Start, then run. Type in regedit in the box. Next, goto the
folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\VxD\MS TCP
Now, find the string DefaultRcvWindow . Now, edit the number to 64240 then
restart your computer. There you go. High speed cable modem now with out dloading a program.

It depends on which version of windows you are running. All the win9x versions had their TCPIP settings 'optimised' for dial up. The deafults in WIn XP and, AFAIK, win2k are for higher speed connections.
Even if it does work, the gain will be minimal and probably not noticeable in day to day use. -
