Hi everyone. I just installed my new Pioneer A06 with no problems. I went to burn 2 movies.
The first is one I captured from home video and authored with Ulead software. I burned this onto a DVD-rw.
The second is the movie CKY4. Now I read a tutorial that said all I do is decrypt it with DVDecrypter software. I let that run its course. Then it said use nero in DVD UDF 1.2 or whatever its called. I did that and burned the VIDEO_TS folder. I burned this one using DVD-R media.
Now my question is. None of these work in my buddies XBOX and the DVD-RW I made with Ulead works in the PS2 but not the DVD-R. Did I burn it right with nero? Its verbatim media......is this good enough?
Neither one of these will play on my parents old DVD player but then again those dont even play burned music cds....hehehe. So i wasnt expecting much.
Any suggestions on how to burn regular dvd backups? Should I use +R media?
Any help is greatly appreciated. THANKS DVDRHELPERS.

learned for experience. when you use NERO, select DVD-Video at the Wizrd, the make sure your ISO tab settings are ISSO 9660. level 1, ISO 8.3, select New, replace your Video_TS folder and it's contents with the layout one.
as for as the compatibilty with the different players, PS2 and XBox are very picky about the blank media. and all other is a MAJOR trial and error process, test your burned -R, +R, -RW, and +RW copies with the different machine to see which ones will accept which media. Test them with Major brands first before you guy the cheaper ones. -
1. Make sure that the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder are all CAPS
2. Along with the VIDEO_TS add an AUDIO_TS folder, makes the DVD more compatible
I have an AO4 and it works great. Though I use CopyToDVD to make the DVDs. Less hassle in my opinion. -
Thank you both for your suggestions. I guess I am going to have to try to burn this tomorrow since i have no more disks......hehe. Does their need to be anything in the AUDIO_TS folder or just an empty folder?
Also this Copy2DVD program.........do you lose quality at all? Do I have to decrypt or anything?
Also I will try those settings you suggested Dennis. Didn't know about those before. You also said
"replace your Video_TS folder and it's contents with the layout one. "
Does the layout give me a new folder to put the files in?
Thanks again everyone.

You can leave the Audio_TS folder alone. DVD-Video Players do not look at anything other than VIDEO_TS, the AUDIO_TS folder os for DVD-Audio the competetion to SACDs. Before you place any files in your project, the left side window will have AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS, that is the folder you can override

At any rate, just burn the VIDEO_TS and empty AUDIO_TS folders -- crossing your fingers wouldn't hurt.

BTW, in my experience, UDF 1.02 yields more compatible discs than 1.05. -
If you are trying to make a disc as compatible as possible, you should include the AUDIO_TS folder as it's listed in the specs. It's not like it's taking up a lot of space on the disc !
