I have this burner for long time, however I haven't notice it until now: when I burn at 2x with DVD Decrypter it always show burning speed 2.1x
    Well, it actually jumps from 2.0x to 2.1x (18.7x - 18.8x)

I wonder is this a bug in a DVD Decrypter, or is it really burning at this speed? Not that care about 0.1x faster burning, but I'm really curiuos...

    TIA for any answers.

  2. that's strange.. I have this drive for 3 month now and always burn at 2X.. maybe it's a bug of dvddecrypter..

if you really want to know, burn a DVD with DVDDecryptor and burn the same dvd with Nero or something else.. note the time of both burn..

yeah I did this test, but I haven't noted exact times. Anyway I'm sure indicated speed in Nero and all other programs is 2.0x all the time.
It must be some bug in DVD Decrypter, and real speed is actually 2.0x not 2.1x

  4. I saved this log, I found it interesting.

    It`s definitely DVD Decrypter.
DVD+R is supposed to burn at 2.4x This is the standard for plus isn`t it.
It does so with any other (Nero, RecordNow,....)

    ISO writing, 2.4x chosen
Says not supported, writes at 1.9x in 30 min instead of 2.4x in 23 min.

Here is a part of email reply I got from dvddecrypter guy:

[color=blue] ...Its a cosmetic issue, thats all. I take the amount of data burnt per second and divide it by the dvd transfer rate for 1x.
I guess the number doesnt work out exactly so some seconds you'll get 1.9, others you'll get 2.1.
The write speed is a defined by the drive. You cant make it burn quicker that it can!

So its just a glitch in a software as we all thought.

But it forces my drive to burn slower than the min. speed (2.4x).
It`s never happened before and its not supposed to happen.

vric, you did not pay attention.
As I said never happened before with any other software. They all burn in 22-23 minutes.
I often write on-the-fly, I couldn`t do it in time when buffer underruns.
You can even SEE the BUFFER in Nero. Never goes under 95%.
