Region Free Hack as I understand it.

The Earth is divided into 6 land based markets (Regions 1 to 6), Regions 7 ans 8 are for propriatry makets, as in Airline industry and Marine/ Ocean gping ships. if you buy a DVD in the USA or Canada it will be a Region 1 DVD, that means by market standards, a Person in England cannot view this DVD because their DVD player is locked to Region 2. and visa versa.

All modern electrical devices have a computer chip embedded into them, commanly referred to as the BIOS or Firmware; with DVD players these Firmwares are dived into Upgradable and Non Upgradable. If a DVD player is deemed to be non upgradable, it's BIOS chip is locked inside the chip forever; if it is Upgradable, then they are dived into flashable chip sets, like a PC BIOS, or a service tech mode.

you can change the defualt of the region to accept all region DVDs, example, buy a Region 4 from Australia, a Region 2 from Europe a Regin 1 from the USA and play all three on the same DVD player.
