This is a question for those of you with pioneer a04 drives. I recently switched my drive to a new computer, and while it used to rip at 2.1x on my faster, better computer, i just ripped a dvd at 5.0-6.0x on my slow p3 system with a crappy hard drive.
Please post your fastest rip speed as I want to see if this is not a fluke or if it was just messed up to go at 2.1x on my other good comp.
Oh also one more question. I put a Liteon 16x in my main comp, and the ripping speed is horrible to my other computer, it locks up in places and is very slow. It is running 100 base T, but is it possible my other computer simply cant write the data fast enough?

i have that burner...however, i have never used it to rip...it's much safer to use a DVD-ROM to rip....
you might end up overusing (excessive wear-and-tear) on your pioneer if you use it to rip and burn....it's alot cheaper to replace a dead DVD-ROM than it is a DVD-RW
btw, i have 2 16x artecs DVD-ROM...1 comp rips at 2x w/ dvddecryptor...the other on another comp rips at about 8x w/ smartripper
