For over a week now i have been trying to get this program to work with no success. I tried getting the dvd files but would be left saying that it is converting the audio to 48000, i know files were being created but once these got to a certain stage the files didnt change sizes anymore or get past this stage.

I decided to try the other output methods instead.

I selected elementary stream, converted two mpgs i have. I presumed that the big and small files created were version of the original split into video and audio files, so i loaded these into ifoedit and ran but it crashed, i normally find the program crashes if ive tried something that wont work or is wrong. Im not sure what can be done with these elementary stream files

I tried Program streams, this was the first time i actually saw the whole process happening, it went through all the different black box screens, converting then encoding etc and creating _DVD files. After just an hour it had finished and i have something completed. I tested the _dvd files in power dvd and video and sound was in sync to my delight. It looks like im gonna stick with this method seeing as its the best option ive got.

Now i need to know what i can do with these to get them into dvd files. Can i demux in tmpgen to split into video and audio, then put into ifoedit to get the vob files??
Or are there some other programs that are quickest/best to dvd author. I also have ulead movie but dont want to use this as it takes so long, ifoedit usually is quick and accurate.

Can someone give me some advice on my experience, my next step and useful program

Im so glad to be finally getting a slight bit of joy from this program now and seeing that it partially works

i tried dvd lab a little but it says that it doesnt like my files, not sure what it said now, something about it size-screen plus my hard drive didnt have enough space until i get my dvdr working again

SO i should use normal tmpgen or tmpgen dvd author, and what do i do just add the movies and leave it?do u know how long it takes?

Does dvd warn you about your files or does it give an error? I you get a warning just go on, it is only warning you that your dvd might not play the files. But mine does.

If you don't have the harddrive space you can't use any program cause al make vob's out of your mpgs which means you need the same amount of free discspace as the size of your mpgs combined.

The proces it takes to make a dvd is the following:
1a. use tmpgenc to encoded your mpgs if you got avi files.
1b. you need tmpgenc & besweet or svcd2dvdmpg to create dvd compliant mpgs. Cause mpgs for dvd need 48khz audio files and svcd and vcds are 44.1khz
2. you need a author program like dvdlab, ifoedit or tmpgenc author to author your mpg to vob's and ifo files
3. you need a burning program like nero to burn the vob's and ifo's to a dvd.

As you have created your working and compliant xxxx_DVD.mpg files you can now author them like this,

For Ulead DVD Movie Factory2 use this guide;

When you have made your video_ts folder burn it to dvdr with either the built in burning programs of the two apps in the guides or use copy2dvd like me (click project, write dvd video, navigate to video_ts folder and burn).

Yes i think it must be a warning

As ive ran my mpg files through svcd2dvdmpg already, they are already converted into 48k so all i need to do is convert my two mpgs to vob

Can i use ifoedit even if i have one mpg file that has my audio and video?
I have got dvd lab and tmpgenc author too and might try them out

If you want to use ifoedit, which isn't a easy program, then you need to demux your .mpg with tmpgenc author to .m2v and .mp2.

Just use tmpgenc it will except the mpgs svcd2dvdmpg+ made.

Leeegglestone: I use this prog a lot and it works for me, one thing to note is try a session and DONT convert the audio, in other works leave it at 44k, I tried this and it works fine on all my dvd players.

I have only one set of mpeg files it just doesnt like and I am trying to figure out what is causing it to fail.

Also have you done an update of the prog? A lot of issues are fixed on an ongoing basis, best do an update first and see what gives.

I copy the required files to a dir on thier own, I then run the program, I dont convert the audio and I let it create the dvd folders, i then just burn then to a rw and test it first. As I say it works for me that way.

once it has created the dvd files, can u redit the audio to fit 48000?

Keep it simple as you are inexperienced.
You have 2 compliant xxxx_DVD.mpg's.
You have tmpgenc dvd author.
Start tmpgenc dvd author and click create new project.
Click add file
Double click your first xxxx_DVD.mpg in the explorer window...a box appears to tell you it's a compliant file...click ok and it's gone.
If the second file is the second half of the same movie then click add file again and ok to close the box again.
If the second file is a different movie to the first then click add new track on the left before you open your second file by clicking add file.
Go to create menu tab
Select a style you like
Click on the text "untitled track" and you get a box where you can give the track a name
Click output tab
Check create dvd folder
Give output folder a name
Click begin output
Come back in 30mins to 1hour later depending on your cpu speed.
Burn the created video_ts folder with nero, copy2dvd or tmpgenc dvd author's own burning program (newer versions only) by going back to the programs start tab and clicking Write DVD folder to DVD R.

Dont think you can, its sort of done at that point.

As I say most new players are OK with 44, so if that 'is' your problems on the convert then try it. I havnt seen a diff between 44 and 48

Also it tells me that im trying to use pal on a ntsc setting, what do these mean. If i set it ton ntsc does the dvd only work on multi region?

I tried tmpdvd author and it said i couldnt complie as the movie screen size was not correct, this hapened with dvd lab too
So ive only managed to get one movie into dvd format

What can i do?

PAL and NTSC are two different standards, NTSC is mainly american, I have used PAL in the UK and Australia, where are you?

Trying to get a pal movie converted to ntsc or vice-versa is at best hard.

I too have tried the others and got the message about the dimensions.

Most new televisions and videos will work on both pl and ntsc, check yours, multi region is not the issue, this is another ball game

This means your trying to make a NTSC dvd but you got mpg that are of a PAL source. You can do 2 things:
1. change the settings of the dvd to PAL, but you can only play the dvd on your dvd player if it supports PAL and decodes it to NTSC or you need a dvd-player and tv that supports PAL.
2. convert the mpgs form NTSC to PAL.. look in the guides section for a guide on that.

What can i do?

I think you have to give us some information about the mpgs you got.
1. width & height of the mpg
2. frames per second..

you can find this information about the mpg by using bsplayer or a tool that will show you the mpegs information.

Without some detail about the file we can't help you.

I assumed you were using movies ripped from vcd's but by the error message you got from tmpgenc dvd author it sounds like they are downloaded files and you have just re-encoded the audio to 48000 without checking the resolution of the video was vcd compliant.
Your username sounds very uk (england) to me. If that's correct then you are in "pal" land and the correct resolution for vcd is 352x288.
Grab virtualdub (freeware) from the tools section here and load your mpg up in it. Check the file information tab and take a look at what it says.
352x288 and 25fps is correct for vcd. If it's anything other than that you will need to re-encode the video with tmpgenc (not tmpgenc dvd author) to make it compliant.
