Is there no solution for VCD-DVD sync problems ????

I have this growing collection of MPEG1 files (VCD compliant) that I want to burn as a VCD_DVD.

First I followed the lastest guide on dvdrhelp https://www.videohelp.com/vcddvdr.htm.
This guide seems to be wrong. Ulead DVD Moviefactory DOES convert the video stream to MPEG2. (Reoping by UMF of the converted mpg files that are located in the temp folder will tell you so in the file properties)

Only when I follow the "old guide (TMPG +SSR)" or use (S)VCD2DVD to convert the audio 44 to 48 kHz I can burn (Moviefactory) a real MPEG1 VCD_DVD.

However these methods cause audio sync problem on the mpg files.

Reading this forum I noticed that many people have this problem but I have not seen a solution yet.

Any Help or tips is appreciated.

chris mate ur absolutly right
svcd2dvd+ does it all for u..........but!!!
there is a problem with it, nothing major, it only patches the dvd to trick the player in to thinking its a dvd. i'd say 50 percent of the stand alones ive played them on dont play the discs!! so yes it is very good apart from it only patches i think 1 frame to the dvd reso to trick players and not the complete film (

london. The post is about audio sync. I offered the guy a solution to the audio sync problem.

BTW if you use svcd2dvdmpg+ to author a dvd then there is no patching performed at all. Patching is done only to let certain authoring software load the mpgs.

ok soz but i look at the mpeg properties and the resolution rate isnt set to dvd format? they're still set as svcd's?

I used (S)VCD2DVD for transforming the audio from 44.1 to 48 kHz.

That's where it went wrong wrt the audio sync. On de standalone player as well on the PC.

I assume (S)VCD2DVD+ does the same steps as (S)VCD2DVD wrt converting the audio so I don't see why this should solve the sync problems.

Or are there some extra tricks involved with AC-3 encoding? If so, does normal playback (no AC-decoder) not suffer from sync problems as well?

I you can guaranty that (S)VCD2DVD+ does the job right I will buy it.

Too bad there is no opporunity to try-out (S)VCD2DVD eg. only 10min movies
