I know apparently the "video" is supposed to be better with this version of T2.....and in the second Vob Set there are 2 pgc's the ....the first one is 2:16, and the second is 2:32....the second was is the special edition..but my question is...what does the special edition have that the original movie doesn't? It's 16 minutes longer so it must have some added scenes I would think.
Anyone know?

If I remember from the Card Set. Right after the T-1000 reforms from the heat from the Lead pot and starts after the Conners, He touches a pipe (the t-1000) and takes on the color and look of the pipe. A small sign that the T-1000 is not 100% anymore.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side. -
@defense,
It's just another way for CarolCo to make more money.I think the definative version of T2 is the Artisan Ultimate Edition but this new release is probably the same set.
It is a 2 disk set that has "Easter Eggs",directors commentary, deleted scenes and much more, well worth the money. -
Wasn't this suppose to be the edition with the special windows only "hidef" disc included?

I got two NTSC versions of T2, one is LD and the other a DVD.
The LD is the unrated "director's cut" version of 152 mins and the DVD is the normal version of 139 mins.
Obviously the LD got the extra parts included which was edited in the standard release.
Currently two new released DVDs are "T2- Extreme DVD" and "T2 - Judgement Day (The Ultimate Edition DVD)".
The Extreme is the high definition, check out: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008PC2O/qid=1055517101/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/104...722064-0814348
The ultimate is the normal widescreen DVD with surround sound, check out: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004TRD8/qid=1055517101/sr=2-3/ref=sr_2_3/104...722064-0814348
I hope the links will tell the version differences for you and you can read the customers' reviews on which is the best to own.
I think they are after sales and I don't think the films are any better or any longer than the orginal versions I got above.
The extra features is for so many hours are too much and time consuming. I don't have the time for them. I'll be too happy to view the feature film over and over again. -
I got the Ultimate Edition of T2.....and between that and the Extreme DVD, there is absolutely no difference except the metal DVD case the new set in enclosed into. I enjoyed watching the extra 16mins of the deleted footage of the film, esp the scene where Arnold was getting his neuro-brain surgery.
VTMI have the staff of power, now it's up to me to use it to its full potential to command my life and be successful. -
Normally, a special edition is just an excuse to soak the consumer. If there is a HDTV edition of this disc that give better picture quality if you have the equipment then that might be worth having.

T2 Extreme METAL BOX
PURCHASED it YESTERDAY
with the companion DVD
Plays in normal DVD PLAYER..
except for two menu ITEMS - DVD-ROM and HI-DEF
After 7 HRS working on the problem
STILL CANNOT PLAY THIS POTENTIAL PIECE OF SHIT
now I have 4 machines here, of which 2 are up to the hI DEF task..
BUT ONLY one of the 2 is connected by DIAL UP (necessary to watch this POS release)
ALSO CHECK THE T2 BOX SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: 3.0GIG PROCESSOR
ok so I don't quite have that but I've got 3 times the RAM required in the system (YOU NEED 512MB of RAM to play the DISK)
Now I Install INTERACTUAL PLAYER FROM THE DISC
this is also required to play this POS release
POWER DVD and others cannot be used.
NOW THE F*CKING INTERACTUAL PLAYER shows no video in the window!!
Dammmit..What's wrong now after checking any of my other players on my COMPUTER...and VIOLA!
I see the DVD TITLE but I can't launch the special fetures cause
IM NOT IN THE ONLY APPROVED PLAYER (INTERACTUAL) whch still doesn't work on my special carefully tricked up WIN2k for authoring and processing MPEG-2!!
IT CAN'T PLAY this disc in the interactiual player..
SO Install XING DVD PLAYER reboot and finally the INTERACTUL PLAYER shows a picture!!
BUT NOW Its stutters like a bitch on the OPENING (regualar dvd fare) and crashes when it rests on the menu..
THIS IS NOT GONNA BE EASY..I've PAID BUT
MICROSOFT AND INTERACTUAL ARE PREVENTING ME FROM SEEING THE SHOW!!!
a quick look at the AVS FORUMS on that site shows people having
WORSE PROBLEMS THAN ME!
1.The Bios won't let them authorize the title
2. They're unable to playback the HIDEF smoothly on a 3GHZ machine called a MEDIA CENTER PC
these piece of hi tech junk machines have DVD burners but are woefully inadequate even at $3,000 list price they stutter because in their wisdom on a MEDIA CENTER PC, they've given you an MX-2 geforce with only 32 or 64 mb of ram
3. More authorization and hardware conflict issues
IF I CAN EVER PLAY THIS THING I PAID FOR I'll RE POST!
VERY MAD right now -
By the way
I READ that the EXTREME EDITION as the companion to the
HIDEF I'm talking about is not the same as the
ULTIMATE edition
ITS LESS!!!!
They removed ACCESESIBILTY FEATURES FROM THE DISC so special users cannot use the new release,
they'll have to get the ULTIMATE EDITION -
@dcsos,
I think I found out why your disk is giving you problems:http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/News/Details.asp?RelatedID=3917 -
Thanks that was a wealth of infor on the DIGITAL RIGHTS part of it..
Got it playing for 5 days over here but without a 8x AGP card you can't play this as there's something that senses 8x to play better and without it (I have 4x and a low mb 4x at that the Matrox 550 not good enough!)
Sou it palys 5FPS off the Hard Drive
Im told you need the p4 3.0 for stutter free playback, but with an 8x agp card with 128mb of ram i coul play 3/4 of the frames witha p2.0gig
And anyone thinking of copying the movie file from the DVD-ROM onto a hard drive and sharing it online can forget it: The file is only playable from a valid DVD-ROM disc--again, only after online verification.
you do need the disc in the drive (nd it totally fucked me this DIGITAL RIGHTS SHIT because it couldn't handle that I had 2 DVD's in one machine..they're not set up for that!)
but once i got the 5 day liscense, i was able to copy it to hard drive and play from there.. But 4 days later I can't play it any more..and you know i refuse to go thru these hoops again.. -
There is an easter egg in the main menu that lets you change to the theatrical version. Just keep hitting the right arrow. When it sticks in one place, you need to hit it like 5 more times. Then you will see the red highlight off to the right of the menu choices. In the other extended version, there was an alternate ending easter egg, but I haven't confirmed if it is still in the new extreme version.
BTW: The extreme is in reference to the extreme crap of DRM and the extreme crap of needing 3Ghz and 8x AGP and so many other things! Don't worry, somebody will crack it. If only to say that they did it.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
