  1. Hi there, first post - huge problem. Maybe some of you can help. I have to cut 9hours of Video-Material archieved on DV-TAPES. Now I wanted to use the DV-Camcorder the tapes were recorded with (Panasonic NV-DS990) to transfer the data via firewire to my computer. - Lucky me...
Now - as I've got a Creative Soundblaster Audigy Platinum in my PC i thought I could use the build in IEEE 1396 / Firewire Port of the Soundcard. So i connected the cam to the card an - guess what happened. Windows XP found the Camcorder. - Still lucky...
Next step - I started Premiere (6.02) to transfer the video. Premiere found the Drivers and all seemed working until i pressed the play button in the recording window. The Video started to display in Premiere without sound but after a few frames it simply froze. Premiere was still running but the video itself didn't move. (after 10-20 frames I guess) All other Tools like MS Movie Maker, Scenarist etc show the same behaviour. DIVO can't even transfer a single byte. If I want to transfer the video to my hd only the first frames are transferd. (No Sound) - No more lucky.
I tried to use a different Firewire-Card (VIA Chipset) but experienced the exact same behaviour so it's not the Audigy that makes the problems I guess.
    Here's my System Spec:

    Athlon 1800 XP
    QDI Kudoz 7B Mainboard (Via)
    Radeon 9500Pro GFX Card
    Soundlbaster Audigy Platinum
    512 MB Memory
    Standard Network Adapter (10MBit)
USB HUB with Printer, Pocket PC and Mouse connected to it.
... now an additional 3Port Firewire Card (Via Chipset)

Any ideas out there? Please... I need help - fast... Thx - Rogalon.

  2. Well, I forgot to mention. Each time I press stop on the console, the video stops playing on the camera and when I press start again the first few frames are again transmitted. -> Then it stops... as always. So there's still some sort of connection between cam and comp.

  3. the problem must be in the i1394 because to transfer video it must have some kind of support (read somewhere)
so must buy a i1394 for video purpose
    make a search for ilink/firewire/ieee1394

  4. Thx but... Well - both - the Audigy and the VIA Firewire Controller have Video Support. There are more than a few people who transferred video via these boards. So there must be another solution to my problem.
